My bad knee was improving - an arthritis flare-up - but yesterday I twisted it awkwardly and reinjured it so am back to a slow hobble again. Goddamn it, and I was just starting on some tidying up tasks at home. But, otherwise okay.

I'm hobbling because of sciatica - it's just so annoying! It feels especially wrong to be dealing with this right now. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Yeah, it seems trivial compared to the world stage, but it does matter in terms of your own personal coping. Sending you recovering vibes as well.

Bad knee sympathies - I miss the hydrotherapy pool so much right now. I need to soak and stretch and float.

Ugh, sorry! It's never a good time to have a bum knee, but it seems extra hard to be in discomfort when everything else is so bizarre and out of whack.

I hope you have ice packs or a brace or whatever you need to support and mend.

Still sewing and ficcing. My sleep schedule is all wacky, but on the bright side getting up way earlier than usual means I have more good light for sewing. Finished another 10 face masks and wound up writing 2 more fics. Today Dug the dog from UP woke me at 3am to insist I write his story, and later Wanda Maximoff wanted to be heard.

Wow! Your productivity is an inspiration! I cut out one experimental mask today--I'm trying for the shaped kind with a center seam--but become overwhelmed. I get overwhelmed with the simplest things! And I know how to sew!

I know what you mean! I spent 2 days checking out links, printing out patterns, looking up comments from nurses & doctors before I even decided what pattern to use. And then went 'WHAT? HOW? PLEATS, OMG WHAT?' before I made the first one.

I decided to do it assembly line fashion once I figured it out, so I have a bunch *partly* done, which will make it seem faster because they'll complete quickly. But once this batch is done, I have to start over on the next group which only has the first few stages done (boiled for 5 minutes, spun to get out excess water in washing machine, and then dried on high heat).

My first batch of 16 is awaiting pickup by the USPS- they're going to an assisted living facility (I didn't choose them, I signed up with MaskMakers who matches you up and gives you the address.)

We're all dealing with a lot of new things right now. Each new thing takes extra mental effort, just because it's not routine habit yet. I've noticed new recipes take 2-3 times as long as familiar recipes, just because I have to pay close attention to the recipe vs. 'collect ingredients, measure, stir, pour in pan without even getting out the written recipe'.

So each new thing is a bigger project than if it were familiar, and the more new things we're dealing with, the closer we get to 'brain full, must reboot'.

A lot of it happens while I'm doing mindless sewing and ironing- I'm trying to be efficient by doing the same step over and over and over again on a batch and after a few minutes I just zone out and characters start telling me how they want to help.

I'm taking a coffee/lunch break now from ironing pleats. Scott McCall from Teen Wolf has been talking to me, so I expect I'll be trying to write his story before I go back to sewing. Need more time to get the kinks out of my back, anyway. ;^)

Exercise is making a difference for me, too. We're on lockdown, but we're allowed to out for a walk, and I live where there's a fair bit of street and sidewalk space, so it feels safe even though others are walking too. The fresh air and movement are a lifesaver.

What are you using for your illustration hardware and software?

I'm also finding the exercise to be valuable -- also on lockdown (sorta) but walking is still allowed, restricted to households/families as far as I can understand.

Some very old gear. A twelve-year-old MacBook Pro, along with Clip Studio Paint (formerly Manga Studio) for my practice right now. I have access to Adobe CS4, Corel 11, and a few other pieces of kit as well. It's all been useful despite its own age.

Took another walk outdoors, sat in the sunroom grading papers with the doors open for a breeze because it was unseasonably warm for my part of the world; spring peepers singing their hearts out: It was a good day for breathing deep. :-)

Also, I'm waiting to hear if we're extending our online classes. I'm assuming we will because of the orange menace's latest declaration, but our admin tends to be hesitant about committing to things, so it may take them a bit. I hope not because I'd rather know now, so I can start prepping new work, rather than find out later and be stressed (again...still...*sighs*).

still walking without a device. walked in the street toward the park today and totally freaked when a little girl reached for a tennis ball in my hand that I was going to toss back to her. I hope she didn't notice, but I almost had a panic attack.

I do not like being so high in the risk zone .I do not like anti-anxiety meds. OTOH, I'm a first world person bitching about first world things. So no, not okay. But also no, don't need anything either.

It's ok to bitch here. Life is hard in different ways for everyone. I purposely did not go past the playground today because I didn't want to turn into the crazy old lady who yells at people about obvious dangers.

I'm glad you're taking care of yourself.

10-gallon platelet donation achieved! :) Also saw my mother for a while yesterday, not unconnected to the platelet donation (she half requested, half told me she'd like to drive me there instead of my taking public transport, and I was NOT objecting) which was excellent. :)

On the flip side, I think the pepper plants I've tried starting from seed have either gone dormant or failed. Boo.

Me, too; I didn't fill out the poll the first few times, because I thought I wouldn't keep it up reliably, and didn't want to sow alarm if I just forgot for a few days.

Then I found myself checking this every evening. It's nice to see how everyone else is doing, and support each other's morale.

Yesterday I was pretty disoriented due to daylight savings which led to me going to bed at 1 AM. Not ideal when you're supposed to wake up for work at 7 AM.

I re-watched a movie, and I finished reading a book that I'd put down in September and finally picked up a week ago. Dense, so dense. Finally done with it, it was a good book but so dense.

I made a dish that will probably last me until Wednesday but I should make a grocery list today, then probably make a grocery run (or at least a milk run) tomorrow.

I ate way less than I normally do during the day so I'm feeling it today and it's not pleasant. I blame the late start to my day since I didn't skip my morning routine so I didn't eat anything until 3:30 PM and thus I should have had a bigger supper than two sandwiches. I can only blame myself but at least I know why today I'm not feeling entirely like myself.

The good thing about work today is that we have a lot of meetings which means I don't have to put in that much effort. I was thinking about maybe taking a nap after work but maybe it's just better to try going to bed earlier tonight.

My ribs hurt like hell...and I don't think it's the virus. I more think it's the fact I don't have CPAP suplies becaus I'm so in the hole it's not even laughable anymore. And o god I miss that damn thing.

I'm also awake way before I usually am because I had a phone intrview for food assistence stuffs, and I'm hoping I'll get it it this time. Because holy shit could we us it right now.

I...dunno? I think so, byut I'm not sure. That doesn't mean I still won't have 3to pay my room mates. I'm the only one wgho doesn't have massive dietary restrictions, and I still eat a ton. ... Even if it's cleaner, and due to that+some other things, I've lost about 20 pounds.

(Which is fine, BTW, I just can't lose anymore without being unhealthy.)
