I almost put 'could use some help'...but I just...don't know what to say.
I got to walk outside to the mailbox (Which was empty) so I feel better for that. Mom's package of masks for the family should be here tomorrow, I'm here with a cup of coffee and a new game called SoundRTS...and I still have no motivation. The new schedule I've started is slipping...and while I know it'll take a few tries, I'm still probably being harder on myself than I should be, and it's hard to lighten up on myself and slow down.
Unfortunately, I come by this honestly; my mom is very self--conscious and is also hard on herself in a lot of ways, so it's a little harder to make myself break the cycle of it...psychologically speaking.
I just...I'm trying to find ways to simulate hugs because being a very tactile person in this is rough. The suggetions people have given in comments are very helpful, though, so...it's not as bad as it was before.
Now if only I could find something to make my legs stop phantom itching... Because oddly enough, that's where the worst of hte sensations are.

Date: 2020-04-08 12:56 pm (UTC)Gah, I had the leg charley horse thing several nights back So Annoying.
I'm trying to think what confined quarters improvised equipment exercise might help. The internet should have enough soundscapes to get that part of being outside. If you are good with ground exercises, you could do those horizontal biking ones to a soundscape and imagine the wind and scent?

Date: 2020-04-08 02:17 pm (UTC)What do you mean by the horrizontal biking exercises? Like, they might be hard to explain, but I'm not sure what you mean by that bit of wording.

Date: 2020-04-08 02:51 pm (UTC)Sit on floor, stretch legs out, leaning back as needed. Now, move legs as if riding a bike. So, legs are going to be extending opposite each other, knees bending and flexing as appropriate.
I've never rode a recumbent bike but this would simulate that for given values. It's missing terrain, but I will give you an Illinois stretch of road, with a surprising absence of pavement changes or potholes. Add sound.
Hope that helps.

Date: 2020-04-08 03:00 am (UTC)My state has a LOT of cases. I can't believe that the best match they could give me was 1) a family owned cleaning service half way across the country- and the address they gave did NOT even work- the USPS wouldn't let me make a mailing label. When I requested a different recipient, for preference any health care/senior care in my state, they gave me 2) a SCHOOL* over 1,000 miles away.
And that was the best volunteer mask/matching place I could find.
People are making masks and selling them on Etsy. I'm not on Etsy (again, even if I knew how, the Priority Postage would make it unfeasible), but I can see the temptation- make a profit and be sure the people who get the masks actually want them.
*Ok, I feel a little better about the 'school' it's an assisted living facility, but it's address is 'State College', apparently that's the name of the town. It looks like a big, expensive facility from their website, but I can believe that even with money they'd have a hard time getting enough supplies.
Still gonna back off on this. When it gets to the point it's frustrating, I am going to be selfish and do things I need to do for ME... like mow my yard before people think my house is abandoned. But not today. Today I'm just too tired.

Date: 2020-04-08 02:53 pm (UTC)Sorry you got such a run around. Some people really get used to free shipping and their supply chain, forgetting that frictionless is just costs they don't pay, not some universal truth.

Date: 2020-04-08 03:04 pm (UTC)They are a well meaning group, but I think they expect that a volunteer must be able to afford it, or they wouldn't volunteer.
Can't blame them too much that I bit off more than I could chew.
Shall do ME stuff for a while until I feel able to return to the mask making at a less obsessive pace. (And hopefully they'll get organized more in my area- I know I'd feel better if it was going to people in my home state- my city is one with the highest number of confirmed cases so I know the need is here.)

Date: 2020-04-08 08:21 pm (UTC)Do take time for self-care aka your Me time, and by then there should be a group locally that will have their ducks in a row.
This is a long haul team event, not a sprint.

Date: 2020-04-08 08:39 pm (UTC)I opened the box outside a few days ago and discovered the bag of kibble had been split wide open. Yikes. The company 'Chewy.com' was very nice and they're going to reorder it (will take much longer than usual of course, but luckily I didn't wait until I ran out to order it, so Natasha won't go hungry.)
BUT on the principle that 'it's an ill wind indeed that does no one any good' I left the box inside my yard and bit by bit pussycats are coming to discover a meal. Someone else in the neighborhood normally feeds them, I'm sure because none of them were desperate- it was like- 'oh, hey, there's a snack'. Gives me a little entertainment when I see a tail and a butt sticking out of the box.

Date: 2020-04-08 06:27 am (UTC)Yesterday I changed the bedsheets, did the dishes, made a peach cream pie, and had a movie night with a couple of fannish people which was fun, will participate again.
I did have trouble falling asleep last night but when I finally did, I slept through until my alarm went off so the magnesium is starting to pay off. Going to double the dose tonight.
Today I should swing by the grocery store. I've tried so many new dishes in the past two weeks, I just want to make something easy and simple which means minced meat and macaroni, haha.
Will try to put on a load of laundry or two, and do the dishes left from last night's cooking. I've been watching Resident Evil 3 Remake playthroughs so I will probably watch more tonight, then will test my concentration on the written word.

Date: 2020-04-08 01:04 pm (UTC)While not the same as being face to face, fandom is going to be doing a number of virtuals. WisCon I think is the soonest of the science fiction conventions, though I've not got the details.
Will FinnCon physically be in the same place next year? I know the Olympics are going to be in Tokyo next year, but it'll be the 2020 Summer Games. Pity the future grad student that has to figure that out in 2500 C.E.
