Well, it's been a bit of a "trial process" for me. I've bought masks from fannish sources that are decorated with images from my fandoms and I've bought masks on Etsy for the just-simply-pretty. Some fit better than others. Some are better protection than others (for the less protective ones I wear them OVER a more protective plain mask).

And beware that there are mask-sellers who DO say they take returns. Ugh. Avoid those. I do not want to contemplate that those sellers may be reselling tried-on masks.
