I am finding working from home to be overwhelming but I'm sure it will get better as I get more systems in place. Best wishes to all!

I am used to working at home, so no big deal there.

Balticon appears to be canceled. BSFS still hadn't made the decision, but the hotel started sending out room cancellation notices anyway.

It's been two months of crisis here, and things are finally easing up. But. School's still closed. So are many businesses (though there are more things open than food shops now). Community is still residents-only.

And now the season's changing. It feels like this is never going to end.

I clicked OK on the poll, but at any given moment I'm really not. BUT. I get past it and move on. Until the next time. ;)

I just want to mention that [community profile] stayinside is a new comm for people who are stuck indoors.

I'm not there yet -- I'm in Portland, Oregon, and can still walk around my neighborhood and get very careful takeout from the local coffee shop. But people are definitely staying in a lot more than they used to.

I just started to work from home today, and am still overwhelmed by all the logistics and ergonomics thereof.

WashCo resident here! I already work from home so this is not a huge change, but I worry about supplies and such. I went for a walk on Tuesday to get some fresh air since my gym is closed. Here with my husband and youngest adult daughter. Son will likely be moving home too as his lease is nearly up and looking for a place right now is not easy.

I hadn't even thought about trying to apartment-hunt through all of this. I'm glad you can take him in when he needs it.

I'm in NZ so it's not Covid-19 as we don't have widespread community spread yet, only ~28 cases reported in NZ as of today. But I'm a bit older, live alone, and have some mobility problems, and recently my right knee started hurting like a bastard for no clear reason. I live down a hill and it's become hard even to limp up the path and steps to reach my car. I hadn't wanted to trouble my GP or local emergency walk-in clinic but it's so much worse today I don't have any choice, so I'll do a GP trip tomorrow and likely get xrays. It's just not a great time to be barely able to walk and to need medical investigations, and of course pain relief tablets are already being rationed. But, not the virus.

True! Of course for ages humans didn’t live long enough to run into those warranty problems. We’re outlasting our knees! :C

I live alone unless you count my cat. Who would entirely eat me should I die shut in. She's that kind of cat.

I'm in the SF Bay Area, and under shelter in place. Mr. Bookshop and I are both working at the shop, doing chores &tc., but it's not open, and even if it was, we'd be by ourselves, since nobody is coming up to peer in the windows or rattle the door. We're in a subset of people I haven't seen talked about much, self-employed shopkeepers. Sigh. We're in a block of similar shops, an independent cushion & bedding shop, an antique shop, a t-shirt printer. We're all working! But making no money! Luckily this is one of the slowest times of the year for us, in the best of times. Still, it's eerie.

Oooh, that sounds super spooky.

Are you still getting deliveries? Have you always shipped to your customers, and are you doing it now? (My local, A Room of One's Own, did a mass mailing and is inundated in orders!)

I expect it to get pretty awful here soonish. We're behind by about a week and a half compared to Italy but the rate of new infections still is roughly on that trajectory from the comparisons I've seen, but because right now ICUs and hospitals aren't swamped yet with cases that deteriorated, many people still don't take it that seriously.

They closed schools, museums and restaurants last week, but people don't have to stay home and many don't. Personally I've been staying home for two weeks now except for grocery shopping twice, but even just on the way to the supermarket today I've seen people standing in groups less than the recommended distance apart and chatting as usual.

I'm in Seattle. I mean, I already worked from home full-time, but the trapped feeling is hard to deal with. It's sunny today, so maybe I'll see if I can figure out something we can do to make the yard a space we want to spend time in or something. We've all got cabin fever and I'm concerned about running out of non-essential supplies that I have to order, so I guess I'll be buying more tea online today.

Went out for a walk today, just halfway down our hill and back up to home, trying to combat some cabin fever. I saw maybe 4-5 cars, and no one else on the streets. Sunny and cool, and I can hear the birdsong when I go out. It's lovely but at the same time very disconcerting.

We have 3 adults living in the main house, and a roommate that lives in the basement apartment. She has MS, so she's extremely vulnerable; I cook enough for all of us. I am worried about the supply chain in a vague way, but we are fine for the next few weeks if needed. We canceled out on our standard SF viewing night for the foreseeable future, going for that whole 'only going out for necessities and walks' by choice.

The graph that I saw in USA Today this morning showed that Washington State is diverging slightly from the worst escalation pattern, so I am hoping that in two-three weeks we will see that the social distancing is working. We'll have to see where it goes after that.
