I looked at what we had around, mashed some recipes together, and made chocolate-coconut-banana cake. Still cooling, but the batter tasted good.

For Reasons, we are hosting a teen's New Year tomorrow night. I think we have a dozen (ish) 16-17 year olds coming, and Youngest (and friends) are nominally in charge of food, but in order to access the guest bed, we had to gut and refill the spare room, which has so far eaten a day and change (but it looks so tidy! The lounge, on the other hand).

On the one hand, yay, tidy! on the other hand argh, so little time. on the gripping hand, looking forward to meeting some of the friends.

I don't even go to New Year's Eve parties normally (I think the last time was actually the 99/00 one because I felt kind of obligated on account of the millennium, despite it technically not even starting then...), and I still feel jealous of people who are in places where you can actually meet others. The places this year pushes us into, actually almost missing parties. >.<

We are in a really good place at the moment covid-wise (I'm in Western Australia, our last community transmission case was back in about May, and the borders are currently closed to NSW and Victoria where the current hot spots are). These teens have had a really stressful year (mostly study wise - several have done some of their final high school exams), and a chance to hang out together was at least something I could provide.

And right now, they are watching Megamind.

Job search continues. Cataloguing my collections also continues so that I know what I want to keep and need to sell or otherwise find new homes for.

We're back in lockdown in Ireland from now and for all of January - it's needed as the R-number has gone up to 1.8.
