I'm panicking myself a bit tonight, by reading about doomsday stuff and how it applies to my local area as in, headless chickens in charge, chief chicken is actually an ostrich & thinking PSAs about hand-washing is all he needs to do for the citizenry. Ah, well...

Still sewing face masks. I think I should give at least one to my mail-carrier- I don't think the USPS gives them ANYTHING- I did catch a glimpse of him with blue nitrile gloves but honestly, not so much as a bandana?

I'm considering pulling one of my winter scarves out of closet storage. I'd have to wash the thing a lot more regularly. It would be far from perfect, by itself or in tandem with that "one moose length" distancing recommendation and other tactics, but it would be at least one more thing I could do when I have to travel.

*nods* Anything is better than nothing. Heck, you could maybe cut part of a t-shirt to make a mask. Whatever you use, they recommend washing it after one use, so probably a good idea to have more than one coverup.

Here's a good vid about making no-sew masks out of bandanas or handkerchiefs. Plus you can put a filter in it from a vacuum cleaner bag if you have that available. No need to cut any clothes up! https://youtu.be/lOe_8z8k01U

Give 2 masks to the mail-carrier: one to wear and one to wash.

I worry very much about everyone I know in FL, because you're heading for ... well, it'll be BAD. PLEASE keep isolating as hard as you can.

Yes, definitely 2 and write on the baggie- 'wash before use, just in case'.

I mean, I've been isolated since March 17 and don't think I've ever had any symptoms-- but who knows? Best to be as careful as you can.

I was just reading a depressing bit about my area- the zip code one number next to mine (really same place) has the highest number of cases-- of course this only among the people tested- and they're only testing people over 65 years old who are showing symptoms. So the stats are misleadingly small.

I'm hunkering down as long as I can.
