Of course, being on Tech Support for a new phone may have helped my forgetfulness. I'm a very reluctant smart-phone user, and I struggle to make it do what I want -- and not do what I don't want.

In my experience, changes in personal technology can tie up a lot of a person's processing capacity.

It's so cold here that the snow isn't melting. But a side benefit of wearing a mask when I go out is that it helps keep my face warm.

Itty bitty suburban bushfire one suburb over, edge of the yellow warning zone is very close to family member, I'm trying to be calm about this. Also, because of the position of fire relative to one source of water, we've had water bombers going directly overhead, and that is a bit disconcerting.

Note: I'm not in LA, this is not going to be that level of fire.

All good. We did go and spend a little bit of time hanging out in case it was necessary to evac the dogs, because that wasn't going to be trivial (at the point we went over, both household cars were at people's places of work) if things went sideways. Things did not go sideways, we got to hang out with the dogs, and then we went home. It helped that the wind changed, and was blowing what fire there was back onto the burnt section.
