One of our elderly rescue-fosters, Maiki, who spent several years living rough outside before we were able to bring her inside, had a stroke yesterday morning and died trying to reach me while I was asleep. Last night, a foster kitten cried and insisted I had to be the one to cuddle him, so I did, even as he kept crying. We made it through the night with one hitch when he cried to be taken to the litter box ... and then cried to be picked up back into bed when he was finally done. He died in my arms at dinner time tonight. Considering most of our fosters prefer my wife to me, the next foster to come begging for my attention like this is going to make me so scared.

I am sorely tempted to pick up some amigurumi ebooks and something shiny for myself after the terribleness of the last two days.
