Hurricane Helene walloped us a good one - we just got power back tonight, so I'm going around letting people know we survived. There's at least one thru-and-thru hole in the roof (from a branch punching thru) and possibly more, I don't know, I don't have the ability to get up on my own roof to find out. And since the power was off for five days, the fridge is expected to be a total loss. Along with my nerves. I'll have more of an update when we're a bit more settled - right now I need to go collect dinner, eat, and crawl into bed. :p

I'm so relieved to see you! When I saw how many people were still without power in SC I figured that was why you'd dropped, but I was *really* worried that the hole you reported right before you disappeared was just the start of something more catastrophic.

If you have homeowners insurance, it may include several hundred dollars for spoiled food after a major power loss. In the meantime, when you're able to restock, let us know and we'll do a whip around to cover food for you & any animals you're caring for right now, also gas (if there's any to be had).

I mean I did have a leak open up right over my bed shortly after that (and leaked for basically a whole sleepless day). Really not looking forward to the repair bills, ugh. But yeah, Duke hired in linemen from all over cuz basically the whole state went dark. We're rural enough that I really was expecting we'd get power back at the end of the repair window (Friday). There was a lot of surprised whooping and yelling all around the neighborhood when the lights suddenly came back on last night. XD

Hopefully the store shelves will be less bare tomorrow (the soonest we can get a shopping done).
