Today is my birthday, and it's not that I usually do a big celebration or anything, but this one is sure way up there on the "depressing circumstances" scale.

Also I haven't been outside in while, because I had a mild sore throat and cough last week, not Covid-19 like or even inconveniencing under normal circumstances, but of course these days you aren't supposed to go out at all if you have any respiratory symptoms. So since I don't have a private garden the nice weather seemed to just mock me all week.

Thanks. I did bake myself a cherry chocolate cake that turned out well, and got birthday calls and texts from my siblings.

Cherry chocolate cake sounds delicious. I admire your baking skills.

Thanks! It's not a fancy layered cake or anything like that, just a normal chocolate cake baked in a round pan with some cherries from a glass spread on top. I then served it with a dollop of mascarpone cream cheese, which worked quite well instead of whipped cream (which I didn't have).
