Stress reduction:

I've been a volunteer co-running a newcomers' center in Second Life for five years; I have cut back on my work there by handing off projects to others who have more energy for them. I hope to resign from it soon and then be able to go into that lovely virtual world just to hang out and have fun with friends instead of explaining to newbies how to put on their clothes and where to find good freebies.

The other thing I'm doing is hand-spinning lace-weight silk yarn, to use for making very light-weight warm scarves (yes, more of this, and now I have the patterns for them, too.) I find spinning relaxing, and it gives me an excuse to watch old Robert Downey movies, so I can alternate my focal distance from near to mid-distance and keep my eyes from getting stuck in near sight.

I was briefly in Second Life some years back and know the value of a friendly, experienced welcome. Thanks for volunteering and, wow, after so long, for sure it's time to just enjoy yourself.

I was taught how to knit by some lovely sheep-to-shawl folks who I still stand in awe of. Handmade, light weight, and warm sounds like a magical combination.

It's good that I went to the dentist, my tooth was cracked right in half. I ended up being pretty happy with the level of safety precautions taken at the office, too.

Trying to rehome foster kittens ought to be easy. They're cute! They're babies!
There's also a pandemic that could kill me running wild! e_e I hate capitalism.

Woke to light rain and, since I had to run errands in two towns anyway, a strong urge to visit the ocean in between. First tries failed because 1. parking lot was full of tourists, 2. entire beach was netted off due to long overdue reconstruction of a jetty. Eventually found a nice, accessible spot along my route.

Feel so much better for it.

Pelicans divebombing for fish through glowing mist and incoming tide. Long-skirted Goth parent cutting a striking figure as they strode wet footed into the distance with their two happy kids. A red dog running circles upwind while waiting for their human to catch up. First time I've felt at peace in weeks. Only half an hour there but feeling centered seven hours later.

Found a lucky rock when sorting through some of the mess the sewer lift station work is making of my swale. It's roughly arrowhead shaped, convex on one side, concave on the other. Fits nicely in my hand as a fingering stone.

I need a little more self-soothing than usual these days... don't we all?

Watched a pretty calico neighborhood free-roaming, free-thinking, kitten hunting in my yard today, too. It's a good thing people aren't the size of mice...
