Date: 2024-03-14 11:04 am (UTC)What water sources do you use for your animals (Fountains, bowls, etc) I'm thinking about switching to a fountain for the kitties, but haven't found one that does well with multiples yet.
Nor have I looked very hard because finances; those things (most of them anyway) don't come cheap. Even $30 is a bit of a squeeze at the moment.

Re: I'm home!
Date: 2024-03-15 10:30 pm (UTC)I have a 15-gallon tub on my porch, a 30-gallon tub next to the garage, and a 600-gallon pond behind the house, about 100 feet away. Each is supplied with a fountain pump to keep the water circulating. I suspend a tube above the tubs so that the water can fall back into the tub. The pond has a homemade birdbath in the middle -- a large clay plant-saucer on a cement block -- so the water runs in and spills over.
*searches cat fountains* Wow! Those are expensive; $30 is the low end of the range. Although I can't talk -- I put in a pond partly for the occasional years (about 1 in 4) we get enough rain for the frogs/toads to breed, and I have tadpoles that need enough water to not dry up in the desert heat.
According to the articles I read, many cats don't like their whiskers touching the sides of a bowl. Perhaps a wider bowl would encourage more water-drinking until you can afford a fountain.

....
did a sort of battle with buraucratic bool and got the UI interface running again. If friend in NH isn't available tomorrow...yeah, we'll see.
My brain isn't working on all cylinders yet; been up since three, and am going to need a nap before the day's over due to dinner plans this evening.
