My best friend of 30 some-odd years (Who is also blind and relies on Indianapolis's sucky transpo system) has just lost her job of nearly sixteen years due to being late (more than likely by one or 2 minutes) multiple times. They say that being that late in the real world doesn't fly (The handbook says 8:07; the programs department doesn't have an exception written in. She's supposed to be in her seat by 8 AM according to them; so even if she's in the door at 8:01 or 02, they consider that late). Meanwhile in the last jobs I've had...I was not penalized for that. So long as I let them know I would be late.

So now, both of us are, by cause and effect, being punished because she was the one paying the majority of the ubers to her house, and we are also the only local escapes each other has on a weekend basis, which may now not happen on an *every* weekend basis until she finds a new job. Not to mention the every Saturday night karaoke we'd been relying on to also keep ourselves from going stir crazy at her house.

While she has a savings, it'll only last through March; then...well, who the fuck knows.

We're still doing the Louisville trip (Which she is alos doing the majority of the funding because $45-something in the hole), because the majority of it was paid for before either one of us lost our jobs (Mind you, I lost mine in November; so this has been long in the making/waiting), but after that we're done. Also, it's an early birthday present for me, so there's that, too.

She thought she had been doing better about her timing, so this came as a shock to both of us. Her company now has only *one* full time AT (Assistive Technology) instructor...and they had hired her because the clients (In their exit interviews) were already expressing complaints and concerns about the lack of skills and time given them. (This company's program is 16 weeks, and 16 weeks only; no extentions), so now they've just screwed themselves with no recourse. Once an employee is terminated, they are no longer hirable by this company.

Gods...Just when you think she's getting her time in the sun... *poof*. I just...still can't wrap my mind around all of this.
