That's so sad! And the kind of little but huge thing nobody thinks about till it happens. I'm so sorry. And the students will be forever shaped by this experience. "What grade were you in when COVID hit?" will be their "where were you when the Towers came down/Challenger blew up/Kennedy was assassinated?"

We'll get through it, but so much change is really hard, and I try to remind myself that it's okay to grieve what's lost in the process.
