We got a panicked message from our son right as I was about to start doing dinner prep tonight, he was having an emergency. So wife and I strapped in and asked what was up. Turns out his biomom and her side piece have completely lost the plot, throwing him out of the house (that he pays most of the bills on) and while he was planning to move out on them soon anyway, it wasn't going to be THIS soon. So Nanny and Grandma (wifey and me) are going to be taking on the two boys for at least a week, maybe the rest of the summer, hopefully not any longer than that, starting next weekend. Which at least gives me time to recover from goat-sitting the last several days (love the goats, but by Saturday evening, the boys were especially missing their humans and wanting me to Stay With Them Forever). It's not ideal - wife's health's been not great this summer already and it tends to get worse with the hotter weather - but we'll make it work. Just might involve a lot of me whining about needing time to think. On the other hand, I might be able to recruit them into helping me keep the garden weeded. Definitely getting them onto some kind of chores.

Camping weekend was amazing.

got to go up in a hot air balloon (Tethered ride); rode horses; rode on a motorcycle; did a few crafts; hung with old and new friends. Mentored a few kids along the way. :-)

Had a bot of the stomach bug when I got home yexterday, and a few issues with someone that got cleared up in a reasonable fashion, so I'm not too worried about that anymore, but they were sometwhat upsetting at the time.

It pays to have good frends who can vouch for your character.

I hope I can have as much fun this year next one, too. The goal of unwinding without tech was achieved, so that's all that matters for me.
