I am very much not okay. I have an (access locked) entry talking about what happened. The gist is, my landlord is claiming our building is unsafe (I don't believe it is), found some engineer to claim this, and got the police to force us out on a Friday afternoon (when no independent city civil engineer could be found) with no notice on account of "imminent danger".

At least I'm relatively healthy and managed to shelter at my brother's for now. One of my neighbors is elderly, nearly bed bound and they carted him off in an ambulance, others of my neighbors have small children...

Oh goodness. That's horrid. I hope you and your neighbors can find new homes soon.

I hope the city engineer, once one can get found when it's not the weekend, says their engineer is a no nothing moron and we can go back.

The average rent we are paying is less than a third of what you have to pay now for new small rentals. Mine personally even lower. Neither I nor most of my neighbors could afford a new rental around here. And there isn't even anything available, the last months my city added about one percent to its population in Ukrainian refugees alone. Most of whom are still looking to get out of crappy container shelters or subletting situations that have now become untenable for people who took somebody in last February and didn't think it would last this long or come with a 100% energy cost inflation, and they now have a roommate.

Lost a week to a worse than usual migraine complete with the kind of vertigo that left me either in bed or on the couch. Do not recommend.
