Working on my last fic of this year: deadline tomorrow 5:00 PM CST. Cheerleading welcomed...and comments from anyone in Goncharov fandom especially appreciated as I write my first Goncharov fic.

Goncharov fandom is so interesting. People took the prompt of "What would the greatest-ever mafia movie by Scorsese be like?" and came up with all of these wonderful takes.

Have you seen that the real Scorcese himself has gotten in on Goncharov, saying "Yes, I made that film years ago"?

It's kind of shameful to admit it, but it's true: since my mom died I have *so much* more time and emotional energy available, every day. I had 2 scheduled calls with her per day, at minimum an hour total, and the emotional labor was immense.

I still have stuff to do as executor, but I'm keeping track of my hours to bill the estate, so it doesn't feel like water poured on the sand, it's just work.

I don't think it's shameful. Taking care of someone takes a lot of energy and emotions. It doesn't mean you loved her any less. {{{hugs}}}

You felt like it's "kind of shameful to admit it," and feelings are what they are...but it's not shameful to feel a resurgence of energy and more freed-up time. Be gentle with yourself.

I had a similar experience after my father's death.

And if somebody you care for died from old age or illness after a period of decline, there was also, for me at least, the relief, that the bad thing you've been dreading has now finally happened. It feels perverse, because obviously you didn't want them to die, but now that it's over and has happened the dread is gone.
