still in terrible cold, still without running water (working through the process, no further details yet), still just utterly psychologically wiped out and behind on my year-end tasks as a result. And irritated that this whole thing is going to be written up as a natural disaster when it's the ongoing man-made failure of infrastructure (and also the man-made failure to stop climate change) that's been the most deadly.

I hope your local situation improves soon and that you are able to somehow stay safe as you wait for the heat and water.

Power company has gone from Strongly Suggesting people conserve power as much as possible to just Asking, so that's progress. So of course County Water is now asking everyone to ration where possible because there's so many burst and/or leaking pipes in the area. e_e Makes me wish I could just burrow under a dozen blankets and hibernate until spring. :p

Christmas weekend - per the Gregorian calendar - was tolerable, even entertaining in certain moments.

Just got mail from my landlord that the various service charges on the rent (for the property taxes, trash collection, back yard maintenance and all that kind of stuff) are going up by 20% (!) next year. And that's not including the increased heating costs or such. The other piece of mail was about my health insurance payments are going up.

Both aren't unexpected but it still sucks. My discretionary budget after montly bills is looking more and more anemic... :/

I guess these days you are doing comparatively okay if after rent and energy and such, there is still is a rest at all that, even anemic one.
