Winter in Chicagoland...the snow is piling up and the temperature is heading for zero. My workplace closed early today and isn't opening at all tomorrow.

Down home in Louisiana, waiting for the fimbulwinter to sweep over us. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don't burst any pipes in the deep freeze. (Yes, I am leaving a faucet or two on at a trickle--it's worked before, but this is a deeper freeze than we had before).

Today is 'only' 33°C, but I've been working in overly enthusiastic air-con, and my body has forgotten how to deal with warm. Sympathies for everyone experiencing difficult weather!

In a positive development, my brother's incapacitated knee seems to be improving with rest, and is now in a painful but minimally useable state, so the family Christmas plans may be back on...
