My left hip is hurting more than my baseline - it flares up badly from time to time, and when it does,

- its painful enough to make it hard to concentrate enough to read

- activities like squatting down to feed my cats becomes much harder

- activities like squatting down to load/unload my washing machine becomes much harder

- activities like taking the rubbish out to the outside rubbish bin becomes much harder

I agree. When my hip is bad, everything is much harder to do - if it does it on a Thursday when my cleaner's not coming (thank goodness for my cleaner!) I really struggle to get my rubbish down the stairs to the bins.

No stairs in my house - my physiotherapist has strictly forbidden me from living anywhere with stairs due to serious knee issues - but yeah.

I decided that

cats fed + two small trips to the outside bins

was enough for today and everything else would have to wait

I spent an arm and a leg (lots of my savings) on two stairlifts - one up to my living area (my house is a strange configuration) and one up from the living area to my bedroom.

Getting the bins out involves carrying the rubbish in the sacks down from the living area using the stairlifts, and in the past I've pulled a muscle in my arm doing this.

Then the Rule of the Bins in Gwynedd (N. Wales) is that you have to put your general waste into one bin, and then sort out your recycling into four bins - three blue bins for paper, cans/plastic and glass, and one little brown bin for food. If you break the Rule of the Bins you will be In Trouble with your neighbours who watch you out of their little nosy eyes while you do it, and with the local authority who do random checks to ensure you've done it right.

Believe me, it's a nightmare.

Yeah, we have three 240 litre wheeled bins.

Recycling = paper, cardboard, glass (must be washed), cans (must be washed), plastic bottles (must be washed)

Food organics garden organics for composting offsite = food scraps, tea bags, eggshells, garden waste, cat litter, pizza boxes, brown paper bags stained with food oils

General rubbish = everything else
