I realized that I would not be able to wear a N95 continuously for hours on end at Shakespeare Theatre -- the air is dry, I always go through a bottle of water during plays there -- and so I called up and cancelled my subscription for this season. The person on the other end of the line was very understanding, and is refunding the money. It breaks my heart not to be able to go, but I do not have the kind of immune system that can take much more, these days. And I do not want to become one of the steadily increasing number of my friends who have long COVID. I have asthma and colitis (both controlled), and numerous allergies to meds; I don't want to have to deal with more. But I am still crying because, again, I will not see live theatre for another year.
