I am truly okay, but it was a difficult day because I teach high school seniors, and this was their last day of "classes" forever. I have all of these traditions I typically share with them, but I was only able to continue one and modify another. They're sad, of course, and unsettled, and it was just very difficult to say goodbye this way, with no real closure and no certainty about a later commencement or anything like that.

It definitely is. For me, I can be somewhat philosophical about it, but for them, this is their *only* graduation from high school, you know? I think for them it feels unfinished, and I know they miss each other too. Thank you for the understanding kindness. :-)

Yeah I had that feeling with my college seniors, it is such a letdown.

It IS. And for me, well, you know, I graduated high school, etc., and I've been teaching high school for 24 years, so there have been a lot of commencements. For the kids, though, this was IT. Plus, they really miss each other; this was a pretty tight-knit group. We're hoping to have graduation either late in the summer or on one of their breaks from college in the fall/winter, but you know, it won't be the same. Anyway, thank you for the commiseration. :-)
