In a case of bad timing on several levels, one of my molars broke on Friday evening (it lost against a popcorn kernel), which sucked not only because broken teeth are unpleasant but because I had hoped to delay dentist visits until I'm fully vaccinated. But I managed to get a same day appointment with my dentist when I called on Monday morning. So that was quick at least, but the tooth will need a crown for a permanent fix.

On the upside the tooth is currently not painful, only temperature sensitive, so as far as dental problems go it's actually not that awful. I'm still feeling disgruntled about the whole thing.

Yeah for most people teeth failure of one kind or another seems a recurrent guest star in the constant parade of aggravations that make up adulthood, even if it is better now than in that earlier period after cheap, ubiquitous sugar, but before fluoride in tooth paste and somewhat humane dental medicine. And I can afford the copay for the eventual crown (unfortunately dental is only partly covered by the basic health insurance here), so it's more an annoyance than anything. But I could have thought of more fun uses for my money, and in the meantime being paranoid abbout chewing wrong really takes the fun out of eating.

I am trying to fly to visit my parents. So far, I have gotten to the first stop. And am in a hotel, waiting to finish the trip tomorrow. It has not been a great day. *sigh*

The hotel I'm in is pretty old decor, but it's a tiny bit mid century mod inspired, which is fun.
