I'm a disabled New York woman with a 19-year-old car that's gotten worse and worse. So of course it needs expensive repairs now; I find out everything it needs tomorrow. With all the laundromats in my area closed, I have to drive about two miles to search for places to do my laundry. A lot of things in my little neighborhood are closed down--who knows how many more may cease to be open soon--and thus it's a far walk for many things. New York may be closed for another month. I have some doctor visits I have to do in person, for things like injections. Mass transit is far less reliable on a truncated schedule with far fewer vehicles, and also an infection vector. My roommate is also disabled, and I've been driving her to necessary things for years. No idea when the stimulus check may arrive. I'm freaking out.

Crossing fingers for a not-so-bad diagnosis for your car.

On another note, I like your icon! Fool's Run was a neat and unusual book.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time I brought my car in for this so I know repairs will be expensive. We just thought it could be put off much longer. I babied my car, barely using it lately, and it still wasn't enough.

Thanks! I think you're the second person in the 20 years I've been using it as an icon, starting on LJ, who recognized it. I really enjoyed that book and love Michael Whelan's art.

I'm pretty sure I'm the other one who recognized that icon!

I do hope things aren't as bad as you fear and that your cheque will arrive soon.

Thanks.

The car is much, much worse than we thought. $2,500. I don't have it, and with the car's many other problems it's....
