This was my first foray off the freshwater island we live on since 16 March. I've been content with the trails on our island, but today, I thought, what the hell, I'm getting off this island. We went to a nearby state park, where the state has closed a long access road to vehicular traffic, so people can walk well apart from each other. It was a windy, cool day, with some sun, and walking somewhere I haven't been in a long while felt great!

Excellent choice! My grocery store is currently out of meatballs, even though they normally have a whole freezer case for them--because this is NJ, where Italian food is home cooking.

Yeah we'd stocked up on these a couple of weeks ago and broke into them tonight. :)

Have been self-isolating long enough that I have started a rewatch of Slings and Arrows. Only one episode in so far but you have to understand - for me, if I break out the DVDs and start watching something before the entire house is pristine, the garden is done and the novel I have been working on for mumblety years is entirely finished and it's *not* in the presence of some guest I am entertaining, I am clearly being shamefully slothful and should be doing something productive. To shut my dad's voice in my head up enough to watch Paul Gross for an hour means these are strange times indeed.

I figured out how to make my masks work without fogging up my glasses!

If I move the elastic from around my ears, and instead hook it around the back of my neck (with a clip hooking the two elastic loops to each other), then the mask seals properly around my nose and cheeks. The new attachment pulls the top of the mask in a slightly downward direction, instead of slightly upward.

Yesterday I actually managed to accomplish a bunch of things: I cleaned my bathroom, mopped my kitchen floor, changed my bedsheets, did a load of laundry, cooked a large pot of bean and potato soup and brought out the trash.

Only now my back hurts, presumably because I taxed it far more than has been usual the last weeks. (I'm not among those who manage following exercise regimes during lockdown.) Though it might be a PMS thing -- my calendar reminded me that my period is due any day now, and sometimes I have backpain as a PMS thing.

At least it's not an agonizing backpain, more the feeling crampy, stiff and aching with any movement level rather than horrible shooting pains or such like my bout with sciatica. *knocks on wood*

Zoom choruses

When people do online choruses, like this one that purports to be on Zoom, how do they actually do it? When my friends try, lag makes it impossible. This person says lag can't be overcome, all such performances have to be assembled from individually-recorded tracks. Is he right?

I shut down my computerOn Friday night, and didn't turn it on until today. It felt good not to be seemingly locked to the thing.

Granted, she's my lfieline, and I love the shit out of her, but knowing I can step back is nice too.

I also watched the "One Wold, Together at Home" fest yesterday with a friend over facetime and that was quite fun as well. So, I'm okay.

Even if I still fell dissociated from everything around me right now. :(

My poor little cat is getting clingier and clingier, which is making me more and more irritated and trying not to show it. I would dearly like to escape her affection for a little while!

We've reached a cuddle stable state here - I'm lying flat and she is on my chest, purring right into my face because I can't get away. At last I am her prisoner!

Oh, that sounds sweet. Smokey has been running from room to room this morning, meowing plaintively. I have no idea what she wants.
