I’m currently at my parents’ house due to the Texas weather. We’re safe and warm, but my neighborhood, 5 miles away, has been without power since noon. Every time our “rolling” blackout occurred, it would take longer and longer for it to come back. I’m lucky that my parents live so close to and to our town’s essential departments so their power has not gone off. My neighbors, unless they were able to get into a hotel/motel, are less so. I plan to be here until Friday.

I am having costochondritis - pain in my ribs- plus some congestion. It's making it hard to breathe. I'm doing tons of stuff to try and help like mucinex, drinking hot water, tylenol, 2 inhalers; but not having much luck. I'm hoping it will improve once we are past the super cold snap we're in, but if anyone has advice for how to deal with rib pain, I'm listening.

I have a friend who had to go stay with his (adult) son because of that. His son lives near a hospital and they never lost power; my friend's house is without electricity and water.

For the congestion, another thing you can try is breathing steam. Take a microwave-safe mug or bowl, heat water in it until hot and steaming, lean right over it and cup your hands around the top to funnel the steam toward your nose. Breathe from the mug until it stops having steam.

This helps to clear your nasal passages. The effects are briefer but stronger than the Mucinex.

Thank you. I keeping track with those who have stayed. Power was back on for three hours and it’s back out again. I am hoping it’ll only be out for a little while.

The house is paid off, but I'm waiting on the money to clear.

I'm also waiting on someone to get back to me so I can send an ID to them for a background check so I can get started on a job.

And now to hope I can live a couple more weeks on benefits because I also o my parents a little under $800 for the stuff they helped p8urchase for the house...along with the nearly $9000 I had to pay the bank. *sighs* There's a light, though, and I'm almost there, thank all the gods.

The stress has got me warn the fuck out, though, and I'm having a bit of executive dysfunction which makes life a bit interesting right now. Thankfully with motivational people and the phone, things seem to be able to get done, so that's something at least.

ERTA: and now the USPS has got me frustrated because I can'[t get to the mailbox because snow, and I can't find a way to request a hardship for this. I can't find it on their site, I can't seem to get past their menus to speak to someone, and the neighbor who usuually helps had surgery on her foot, o she can't. I wouldn't be so worried except for the snow is going to be around a while, and I won't be able to get there until a lot of it melts because I can't see, and it covers the landmarks that I can usually use my cane to locate.. >.>

Dang, I hope the power stays on for you lot.

We have a lot of snow here in Indy, but I'm not sure anyone has lost electricity yet. It's more the roads that are nasty as fuck.

My household is staying at home till the snow clears & the road is de iced, barring emergencies.

We have been lucky enough to have water & power on so far. Fingers crossed that we keep both.
