I have too many upcoming deadlines and am at the panicking point of not knowing how to pick what to not do well. I literally cannot do the list in the available time, some of it was never going to be doable, and all of it is other people's deadlines. If people want to respond with platitudes that it will be alright, please do, i need people outside me to tell me these things!

Take some deep breaths! You got this.

What I do in these situations is try to figure out which of these deadlines is stressing me out the most or would bring me the greatest relief if I just didn't do it, and then do whatever I need to do to get rid of it (default, pass it off to a colleague, tell your boss it's impossible, tell someone else they'll need to look at it first). Most of the time, people will be relatively gracious, at least to your face, about it. Then I start looking at the ones which are more achievable, and do the most achievable one first, just to say I got something done.

There might also be deadlines which are softer or which you can get extensions on easily enough. Ask for wiggle room, people will generally try their best to accommodate if they can.

Nora Roberts (supposedly) once said that when you're juggling a lot of things (in her case, writing and raising children), "the key … is to know that some of the balls you have in the air are made of plastic & some are made of glass." It'll be OK if you drop some of those plastic balls; you can always pick them back up later or, if not, they weren't that important, right?

As for the items on the list that were never achievable - whether in time or at all, ever - that's not your fault and you can forgive yourself for not getting them done.

I have heard that quote before. I did not realise it was attributed to Nora Roberts.
