I had turned off Twitter & other news sites for Shabbat+Rosh Hashanah, but sprog checked her phone & then started to have an anxiety attack, so now I know the news.

I am trans, queer, disabled and absolutely fucking terrified right now. Other countries are much harder to immigrate to when you're on a fixed income and can't be viably employed, so I am fucking stuck here.

I'm starting to really wonder what the point is anymore. I don't want to suffer when I die, which rules out a lot of suicide options, but I'm tired of being alive.

I believe there is reason to hope, though I understand that it probably doesn't feel that way right now and that asking you to hope is a cruelty when hope has proven to offer nothing but pain for so long now. But I do believe, fervently, that there are better times coming soon, and I don't mean that I'm hanging all my hope on the other old white guy in the running. Whatever the case, I also believe that every person's death diminishes my life, so I hope you'll consider staying with us, though you owe me nothing.

I have contacted my Senators, told them that I want them to respect Ruth Bader Ginsberg's wish to have her seat kept open till after the inauguration. And I plan to phone them and leave the same message in the morning. I suggest you might do the same. If you have never contacted your senators, go to senate.gov and look them up, then click on their Contact form.

It's not much but it's what I can do today as a citizen.

Solidarity. (I'm agender, queer, liminally disabled, and very fortunate to be living with a partner who has a stable job, in a state with a strong response to The Plague.)

I am trying to stay away from pits of discussion of the hopelessness right now, on account of how little it would take to push me into a similar point of wondering what the point is. I'm not sure how possible it even is.

I did call my senators, so there's that I guess.
