very much not okay right now - my baby and our oldest cat, Harley Quinn, passed today and despite expecting it, I was not, am still not prepared. Unlike everyone else, she was my baby and though lately she'd been more focused on helping with tending foster kittens, she was my first Cat Nurse and I really was hoping for a few more years (she was, we think, about 8.5yo, former outside cat with only half a tail to show for that hard-scrabble period of her life, so not unreasonable age for her to pass, but I'm still heartbroken over it)

All the hugs. As my eldest cat scared me enough to look up in-home vets that handle that this past week, I really know that even expecting it does NOT take away the pain.
