I woke up at midnight needing to go pee, and when I went I passed a large clot of blood. “Oh,” I thought, “that’s odd.” And I went back to bed because I am a fool.

I woke up again at 07:30 and discovered that my incontinence pad was full of blood. “Oh,” I thought, “that’s odd.” I also had massive pain on passing urine. Or should I say, passing blood with a small amount of urine in it.

I rang 111 (which, for those of you in foreign countries) is the telephone semi-emergency number in the UK for medical problems which are urgent but not life-threatening. They have prescribed me an antibiotic and I have to contact my doctor tomorrow morning. I have collected the antibiotic from the only local supermarket which had a pharmacist on.

I wanted to have a coffee there, but they only had black in their café, and I don’t like black.

I have no idea what has caused this massive outbreak of cystitis, but I have never had it this bad before. It’s really freaking me out.

This is Not Good (obviously) and I'm not sure you should be waiting to see your doctor and not going to hospital to get checked out. Blood in urine could be any number of things, most of which are not benign. If you're still passing blood, I'd def go into the local hospital to be checked out.

Hugs to you!

I'm rather torn - there's not much the hospital can do on a Sunday afternoon, and the blood seems to be reducing in amount, and the pain seems to reducing, too.

I know I should probably go to hospital, but I hate hospital, it's grim.

If I'd had any sense, I should have gone there at midnight. I will go if I can't get an urgent doctors appointment.

I think she did go to ER or saw something like EMTs. Please OP (I seriously have too bad of a headache to remember how to code right now) rest and drink plenty of water. Hope Monday comes fast for you.

The 111 number gives telephone advice in cases where the health problem is urgent but not life threatening. They can prescribe medication, and they did, which I went and fetched.

If it doesn't improve following two doses of the antibiotic and I can't get to see my doctor tomorrow morning, I will go to hospital. Even though I hate the place because it is grim.
