I have needed something to do with my hands. Knitting isn't necessarily working (too hot to have cloth wrapped around them or piled in my lap). So I decided to go for it and bought a new spindle: the Scarlet Nebulae version from this page. It spins like a dream -- goes fast and lasts a long time -- and I am spinning silk into silk lace-weight and thread quickly and without trouble. Yeah, not terribly immediately productive, but when I know what I want to do with those colors, I'll be ready and have them spun. So far I have finished spinning some sky blue, and now am working on some red 'wild silk' that looks like antique red gold, 24 carat. I am thinking of it for trim on something, at some point. But this is the kind of thing that is putting me up into OK instead of Not OK.

A friend and I arranged to meet in a park. Masked, chairs placed six feet apart. We chatted and watched bunnies.

Somebody strung a hammock between two trees and lay in it for a while. (This is the kind of thing people do in this city, that never used to happen where I lived before. I like it here.)

It was nice.

I'm still chugging along, staying productive, enjoying the gardening projects, writing, and reading. I'm getting a little anxious for the decision to be made about what we're doing for back-to-school (I'm a teacher). Here, that's supposed to be announced the first week in August by the governor and then schools/districts make their own decisions based on state guidelines. We'll see. I just want to *know*, you know? If I know what to expect, I can prepare for it mentally. I'm a planner. But mostly, it's still far enough away that I'm having only the occasional school anxiety dream. Yay?

Weed whacker is apparently coming Monday, oops, got the parts of the order mixed up, sigh. I was looking forward to mug cakes, too, because sweet tooth and tonight my bits are being extra hooligan-y (menstruation is for suckers). But I started a think on Ko-Fi that I ... expect will go exactly nowhere, but oh well. If I didn't do it, then it definitely wouldn't happen, so at least now there's a chance of something? IDK, sounded good in my head.....

I've finally taken the step of leaving the flat for a little while. I got my hair cut and had breakfast in a local cafe. It was lovely.

I coped quite well with wearing a mask.
