Time has lost meaning, so I forget exactly when we took in the litter of five kittens we'd decided to give Klingon names (all our foster kittens go through a very clingy stage and Wife and I are Nerds). Naming is always a bit risky, but we needed to sort them out somehow and they were starting to show personality and ... and then the FKS started taking them. 5 mighty warriors, the last one crossed the rainbow bridge last night while in the crook of my arm.

But worse than that, one of our older girls also died last night while a neighbor and I were still trying to get someone, anyone (besides the emergency vet in the next county that wanted a credit card I don't have for fees I couldn't hope to pay just to LOOK at her) to help us figure out what was wrong and get her care. I'm both heartbroken and furious - we started looking first thing Friday morning, the only vet to actually respond said they couldn't see her until the 27th, try the Humane Society. We called three (the one in our county, plus each of two neighboring counties). Crickets back. K is going to make more calls on Monday both to find out why tf no one got back to us and what our options are the next time I have a cat in distress.

I'll be fine eventually, but right now... Yeah.
