I survived my dentist trip. I have one less tooth, and I feel like I took a sledgehammer to the face.

After three months of isolation we picked two families with kids my son's age to let him play with. It was a hard choice, gut-wrenching, etc. Anyway a month later one of those two families is sick and being tested for COVID. I'm terrified and can't stop beating myself up - did we have to do this? Was the slight break in isolation worth the risk? And now we're completely isolating for two weeks or until their test comes back negative (which might take a week). I really hope everyone's ok.

Meanwhile case numbers continue to go up and there's no end in sight.

PLEASE don't beat yourself up, beat up Republicans. In SANE rich countries, you & the other families could have all been tested & gotten quick results before you got together. But there still aren't enough tests & PPE, and that's all on Trump & his enablers--which is 95% of the GOP.

Also? This is why any idea of opening schools in the fall is INSANE.

Thank you. Yeah, things are bad here, and there's so much to be angry about. I appreciate the good wishes.

I really wish my brain would give the constant anxiety a break. Even when I manage to not have actively anxious thoughts, that low level unpleasant physical gut sensation is still lurking in the background to remind me.

My immediate situation doesn't even warrant this much anxiety, yet my brain somehow doesn't manage to shove the whole global pandemic situation in the "we don't think about this constantly" corner, where things like "human mortality applies to you" or "pondering the climate trajectory" and a whole lot of other things are already piled up to be at least somewhat out of the way.
