Eye infection is clearing up slooowly. I stood at the top of the cellar stairs today trying to figure out if a dark thing on the linoleum had legs and was moving; the SU, who was already in the cellar, went to check and verified that it was a little catcrap escaped from the litter box, not anything with legs. And I am waiting for new glasses also.

Hugs, and maybe advice or something.

...

Taxes done-and it was a long day-and while I'm pretty sure I'll make it through to pay day it's going to be closer again than I'd like. :(

I took the day off work because ribs hurt and short of breath is a thing-and while I have mint tea (And I wish I could aford the other teas like breath easy and the like) is there anything else I can do to make my entire rib cage feel less on fire from every direction? It litterally feels like every nerve is on fire and it sucks. :(

...

which is part of the reason I took the day off, even though my anxiety says I probably shouldn't have due to hour cuts and the like. This money anxiety is starting to interfere with my life, and I don't like it. :(

gentle hugs.

Rambling thoughts, in case any of this is useful. I'm asthmatic, and shortness of breath leading to sore intercostal muscles is A Thing; my thoughts are probably more geared to that kind of tightness than, say, post-viral, so whether any of this is useful depends. My first pass go to is ventolin (salbutamol), but given you have already mentioned money is tight, and I think Australia is one of the few places that does that over the counter, that presumably isn't an option, but if you are in a position to take a dose, consider whether it is a sensible option. If it isn't something you use regularly, a single dose will be enough for you to know if it helps.

Beyond that: heat for the muscles. Hot bath if it is an option. Hot shower, particularly if you can get into a position to get the water on to the ribs, is less good but still helpful. Both of these should also help with the lungs because of the steam. Or head over a bowl of hot water with a towel over your head. Traditionally, one puts a drop of eucalyptus oil in the water for clogged lungs, or lavender oil for calming. But I've read enough rants about essential oils to know that what we used traditionally and 'essential' oils aren't the same thing, so proceed with caution, assuming you have either in the house.

Gentle breathing exercises associated with expand and contract arm movements to go with the breathing (the way it feels to me is that the arms are doing some of the movement and it doesn't hurt as much). If it makes sense in ballet terms, start in first with head dropped down; open to second while breathing in and lifting head).

Also, consider finding a somewhat upright supported position to sleep in. Can make it easier to breathe, and thus less hard work on the ribs.

I just used the last of my abuterol yesterday, and it does help.

I wish I had a pillow to sleep upright, I also have sleep apnia and that would help with that, too.

While I don't have eucalyptus itself, I do have shower steamers (Little tablets that are useful for shower instead of bath bombs, but produce the same effect) with it in there, and they help. :d

*hugs back* I'm really glad I have insurance that covers things like this-especially since I found out this morning that my account has $98 which is below my threshold of safety by two dollars. *sighs*

It does help, actually as my asthma started out as bronchitis in third year of high school, and has been fucking hell since Covid round 2. :(
