I learned today that someone I have known and played music with (whenever we were able to get together) has died, and it is a shock.

I suspect that twistedchick refers to one of our mutual acquaintances, eftychia, as having died this past week. It was indeed a shock to get that news.

Also, the evidence for Long COVID being a sneakier long-term killer than we'd previously known is piling up. Knowing this and getting that through the heads of policy-makers and employers in our various home countries is going to be harder, given the ongoing anti-science resistance from various far-right and not-so-far-right quarters.

I need to make time for another attempt to rework my resumé at some point over this next week.

Is it known whether that was the cause of death for Daphne? Or are you just talking about it, because it seems convenient to you?

And Daphne was not just my acquaintance, but a friend for more than 30 years. Her death is a shock and a loss and grief, just as her presence was music and light and creativity.

First: I'm sorry for my choice of words.

Second: I'm speaking of these three things through my own sense of the world. I don't know if they're related in any way. I don't know how she died, and I'm preoccupied with my own lack of sense of relative safety.
