Something happy!

My younger sister died unexpectedly a few years ago and I've made a decided effort to keep in touch with her (now adult) daughter. The sons have their dad, and I see them, but she's more like me than they are and she's a good person.

Without the pandemic, we would have gotten together over the weekend. Instead, my niece sends me a present today, an edible fruit arrangement, with a message that said: "there isn't an aunt's day, so have a mother's day present instead".

Simply unexpected!

Accomplishments

- Got some new add-ons for a piece of software I want to use more often.
- Kept looking for paying work.
- Got the monthly federal paperwork done.
- Got some stuff done for relatives remotely.
- Received my new travel masks in today's mail.

Beautifulcat is recovering.....slowly. She comes out from under the couch, goes down to the litterbox (or possibly the corner of the room; she's been a bit odd lately) and comes up, but she's eating more and spending a little time away from being under the couch. She is not stretching to jump into her usual nest (a cat cushion on a chair) so I assume she is still not feeling completely well. But better. She comes over to get skritched and seems to want to be near me, or the SU, not just across the room. This is better.

Mr Dr Science just left for the dentist and said he had to get some gas on the way. He didn't take a mask and I wasn't on the ball enough to stop him and force one on. Damn it.

Now, the dentist's office won't have anyone except the dentist & his assistant there (it's a "yeah, that's not a tooth anymore" emergency crown), and this being NJ he won't get out of his car to get gas ... but dammit. I should have stopped him, even though he was running late.

Not yet. We couldn't get through on the phone. I would be happy with a phone consult, even, but that hasn't happened either.

She is up and about, eating, going downstairs to the litter box and back up, and complaining about the food (normal.)
