Hip pain is OW

am wondering if I should go to the physiotherapist... there's currently no known COVID in my city, but that will probably change soon as there is lots on the East Coast of Australia...

I'm sorry. Joint pain always sucks (my elbow and wrist decided to act up today). I hope you're able to get some help with it and still stay safe from covid.

Best wishes that cases stay down so you can get the help you need.

These risk calculations and trade offs suck so much. *hugs*

Can you maybe get reassurance about the practice's setup, i.e. what they are doing with improved ventilation, masking and whether everyone is vaccinated yet and such? If they are proactive with precautions before there's known local transmission in the area, now might be the best opportunity to get treatment.

Though if you couldn't get vaccinated yourself yet, waiting for that might be better. Personally I delayed most medical stuff while I was unvaccinated, even last summer when local cases were in the single digits in my city, but now that I'm vaccinated I risk more even with more local cases (not totally rampant spread though, vaccination rates aren't bad here, and there are vaccination/testing passports and mask rules in effect and such).

Check whether your physio is vaccinated? And whether the other practice staff are? If yes, then I'd go for booking the appointment ASAP, so that you can get some relief while there is still a reasonable chance of safety. Because numbers in NSW have gone below 500, which means that the border rules are likely to change at some point, assuming that gets maintained.

Note that if you weren't vaccinated, I'd be giving different advice.

One of the issues is that my physio is embedded in Perth train station [just behind the Priceline chemist and the toilets],

so even if I get a wheelchair taxi in, that's a lot of humans to potentially get exposed to.

There are physiotherapists in Maylands, but the ones I have seen are crap with chronic and/or complex issues.

Oh, that does rather change the calculus doesn't it. I was calculating assuming it was going to be the taxi and the staff.

The 'do it now or hold off an unspecified amount of time' still stands though. Just the risk analysis is different.

I have also been wondering if I should go back to a physiotherapist in Belmont who was good but hard to get to by bus - easier with taxi
